It’s been a long day
I have to say its time to go to bed.
So hit the sack
And don’t come back
You need to reefresh that head!

Spring Clearing

Spring Cleaning is in the air, although rumor has it we’re getting snow on Friday, so what’ stopping you from starting.  Spring Cleaning isn’t just about cleaning out closets or attics or basements, it’s also about clearing your mind.  Today is as good a day as any, to check in with your monthly goals from March, and your upcoming April goals.

Here were my March Goals:

  • Get rid of parking tickets (car still sitting in driveway, hmmm)
  • Get myself out there both online and at events to create more visibility.

So, how did I do?  The first one is pretty obvious, but the second one, I would say I did very well!  I not only attended three events this month, but I also created two additional web sites!

I have several friends who lead great charitable organizations, that I wanted to link people to, so I created PositiveParticipation.org.  Here, you can connect to them!  Then, I created my own blog about how to market to people like me.  I’m what you call Health Curious, not quite health conscious, but I’m eager to learn a little everyday.

Have you checked in with your goals this month, and set your April ones? Share your goals with us on our Facebook page and you become our BSW Member of the month!

Stay fit, be healthy, and have fun!

I wanted to share this article from Mark’s Daily Apple because I think it’s crucial for anyone who’s ever believed they couldn’t eat healthy because it’s “too expensive.” In reality, Americans a smaller percentage of their income on groceries than ANY OTHER COUNTRY. Why isn’t buying quality…

Finding your Center

Our bodies are vessels. They can hold only a limited amount of energy, either good or bad. Find your center. Cleanse your body of bad energy and replenish it with good. Feel restored. Feel animated. Let your daily work energize you rather than deplete your energy. Create joy.

Resolutions: Summoning Chi

  • Today, I will center myself and act from a place of balance.

  • Today, I will open myself to the goodness of the Universe. I will remain aware that its energy is my energy and mine, its. I will be present to our moving and flowing together.

  • Today, I will stay centered even in tense situations and watch as my stressors vaporize. I will enjoy the abundance of confidence I gain in myself.

  • Today, I will look for opportunities to remember that with every breath, I take into my blood the power of the Universe-that with every breath, I must also give myself back.

  • Today, I will give thanks to the Infinite for sharing with me the power to heal.

BSW Inventory

Have you ever taken an inventory of all that you have put off?  I mean really review everything and write it ALL down?  I did just that, and it was exhausting.  I still keep thinking of items I need to add to the list.  So, this is what keeps me up at night?  And I’ll tell you what, since writing that list, I slept better than I have in months.

While I write out my monthly goals; personal, family, and business, this list doesn’t fit the “goal” category.  I refer these to as little habits and nuances that, unfortunately, I tend to put under the rug. However, it’s these little nuances that either make me or break me.

Today I was reading Jenn’s blog on Personal Fit Coach, as she and I both started P90X around the same time.  I ran into timing trouble a month ago, and she got sick.  While this is something you can do from home, neither of us were able to keep it up and now we’re faced with the inevitable question of “what now?”

On my inventory list, this is labeled as seeing things through that better myself.  Not a goal, but a habit.  So, rather than tackle it, I ignored it, thinking it will go away.  But there it was right in front of me on Jenn’s post, “it’s always a juggling act.” Life is not perfect.  But we need to keep moving forward, even if we have taken a few steps backward.

When you look at your inventory of habits from how it is stocked and what it is stocked with, I believe it defines who you are, and how you approach life. So, rather than be defined as one to sweep this under the rug, I leave you now, and will go re-start my P90X.

What does your inventory look like?

Falling Forward

Walking everyday through the leaves reminds me of being a kid. That sweet scent of the leaves and the crunch beneath my feet take me back to a time when life didn’t produce so many thoughts, so many things to do, and remembering (and forgetting) things left undone.

Today, at last, is a beautiful Fall day, but it seems it’s taken so long to get here.  Spoiled by the spring and summer weather, my mind is so confused and keeps going backward.  But why, why would I want to go back in the past, when I have so much in front of me right now?

Am I unsatisfied with what is taking place now, or am I anticipating too much doom and gloom?  Really, this is not a downer post, it really is a reflection of my feelings from the last 24 hours, taking a long walk through the leaves, and realizing it’s all good.

I can’t put the past completely behind me, however, I have learned what I now know, and will push forward and keep walking through the leaves, until they turn to snow piles!

The Travel Mom

The Travel Mom

The_Travel_MomI recently had the great opportunity to meet Emily Kaufman, the Travel Mom.  Emily and I met at The ArtBar in Cambridge over a “community lunch”.

Fortunately, Emily brought her friend Lauren, from SeaWorld, to tell us about all the new wonderful things happening at SeaWorld Orlando.  (Annie and I are planning on heading to Florida for my husband’s Spring Training, so timing is perfect)  We were joined by Jill, from Boston Central, and had a great time chatting about Emily’s travels, and even her life in Calabassas California (that’s right you Khardashian-lovers, she lives down the street from them in Calabasass).

Emily, being from California, was thrilled to have the New England Clam Chowder, and munch on the lobstah rolls.  It was so great to watch someone relish in things we take advantage of.  And then she began to tell me how much she loves to travel with kids, and see the looks on their faces for the first time they see something new. It seemed as she told the story she was going back to that mommy moment and falling in love all over again too.

The Travel Mom has been around since 1998, long before any of us were blogging, tweeting, or FB’ing.  So it was rather fun to share how the social media world unfolds and how important it is.  Emily started her career in Television, which, as many bloggers will admit, is something they would love.  Have their own show about what it is they are so passionate about.  Emily’s passion is clearly Travel.  And she’s so great to tell the trade secrets and share the insights on the industry!

After lunch we had the opportunity to sit down with the Travel Mom and she shared her top three tips for us.  You can see the interview here!  And, of course, Emily has her book, The Travel Mom’s Ultimate Guide to Travel: Planning, Surviving, and Enjoying Your Vacation Together available on Amazon!

The great part of our conversation with Emily was her introduction of Lauren from SeaWorld.  Personally, I have never been to SeaWorld, so to hear all the great new exhibits and fun happening there made it all the more enticing.  Lauren also shared with us a love for community giving that works for the consumer!  With SeaWorld Cares each purchase of a $5.00 child’s ticket, SeaWorld will donate 100% of the price of the ticket to fund non-profit organizations that are working right now to help wildlife conservation efforts. You can choose any of the four conservation partners to receive the donation.

We hope to catch up with Emily again soon.  What’s better than hanging out with The Travel Mom?  Maybe traveling with the Travel MOM!

Look for a BIG Giveaway in November from our friends at SeaWorld!!! You must be a BSW member by 11/30/10 and over 18 in order to qualify.
